Ewald Woste (13 January 1960) has been President of the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW), Berlin, since July 2010 until 2014. Now he is member of the executive board. Born in Werne/North Rhine-Westphalia, he has been CEO of Thüga AG, Munich, since 2007.
After graduating from Paderborn University with a diploma in economics, Ewald Woste started his professional career as an assisent to the Managing Director of heroal GmbH & Co.KG, Verl, a medium-sized aluminium processing company. Later on he switched to Benteler AG, Paderborn, an international group active in the Automative, Steel/Tube and Distribution business, where he worked as a controller. B
Since 1992, Woste has been working in the energy industry: First, as officer with power of attorney at Stadtwerke Paderborn GmbH. At the same time, he took over the office of Managing Director of the joint undertakings of PESAG AG and Stadtwerke Paderborn GmbH (today E.ON Westfalen Weser AG) as well as of the Paderborn Economic Development Agency. In 1998, Woste became Member of the Management Board of Städtische Werke (municipal utilities) Nürnberg GmbH and of the Board of Directors of Energie- und Wasserversorgung AG (energy and water supply) as well as of the Board of Directors of Verkehrsaktiengesellschaft (transport corporation) in Nuremberg. After merger of the Nuremberg municipal utilities with the regional energy utility Fränkisches Überlandwerk, Woste became appointed Member of the Board of Directors of N-ERGIE AG in Nuremberg. In 2004, he assumed the office of CEO of Mainova AG, Frankfort-on-Main.
